Amity Regional High School selected The Herren Project: Project Purple Initiative. This charity focuses on preventing substance abuse, specifically in young people. Since the Herren Project was founded by Chris Herren, a former NBA basketball player whose promising career was derailed by substance abuse, Amity Regional fundraising events had a basketball theme to them, including:

• "March Madness" event, where students raised money to sponsor Amity teachers participating in basketball contests.
