Charity Champions
King Low Heywood Thomas School Students Raise Funds for the Orphaned Starfish Foundation as They Participate in Charity Champions
King Low Heywood Thomas School held a presentation at which students were awarded with a $1,000 donation to the Orphaned Starfish Foundation, the charity they chose to be the beneficiary of their participation in Optimum Community’s Charity Champions program. Senator Carlo Leone was on hand for the celebration, as was Andy Stein, founder of Orphaned Starfish.
Over 150 students, staff and community members volunteered in “Community Service Day” activities to raise awareness for the charity. The Orphaned Starfish Foundation is dedicated to working with orphans and disadvantaged children so that they may have the vocational and life skills necessary for adulthood and thus break the cycle of poverty and abuse.
