Earth Day
Students at Amity Regional High School Discuss Ecological Issues with CT Governor Dannel Malloy and DEEP Commissioner Rob Klee
In honor of Earth Day, Optimum Community hosted a special presentation at Amity Regional High School with Governor Dannel Malloy and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Commissioner Rob Klee. The program provided AP Environmental Science & Critical Issues students with the opportunity to engage with these two leaders and ask questions about environmental issues, including renewable energy sources, endangered species populations, and future storm preparation.
“It was a pleasure interacting with the bright, motivated young people here today,” said Governor Malloy. “I hope our discussion helped them gain a better understanding of where we stand on various legislation affecting our environment and region. Their questions were timely and dealt with a number of important issues that range from wastewater treatment to renewable energy sources and much more. I commend Optimum Community for bringing this program to our schools.”
