Felix Festa Student Wins Grand Prize in The Weather Channel Poster Contest
Town of Clarkstown Supervisor Alex Gromack joined Optimum Community at Felix Festa Middle School to recognize 8th grade student Eric La as the middle school grand prize winner in The Weather Channel’s 2040 Poster Contest. The contest encouraged students to create a poster that expressed their views on changing weather patterns and predict how meteorologists would determine a daily forecast in the year 2040. Supervisor Gromack spoke to the students about the importance of weather preparedness and congratulated Eric on his winning poster. Eric was then presented with his prize, a Samsung Galaxy tablet.
“We are all proud of Eric’s accomplishment in winning the grand prize,” said Supervisor Gromack. “Much of our life depends on our climate and, as we have seen, weather patterns are changing and it is important to discover the reasons for such a change and a possible solution. I would like to thank Optimum Community and The Weather Channel for providing the students in our area with the opportunity to discuss and think about an important topic and also win a terrific prize.”
