Meet the Leaders at School
Meet the Leaders at School at Spackenkill High School
Twelfth grade students at Spackenkill High School were visited by Dutchess County Executive Marc Mollinaro and Town of Poughkeepsie Supervisor Todd Tancredi for a taping of Meet the Leaders at School. 10 students had the opportunity to ask the officials questions regarding a variety of topics, including improving the local economy, combating the growing heroin problem, funding for community organizations, encouraging local tourism, and more.
“First, I’d like to congratulate each of the students for their timely and perceptive questions,” said County Executive Molinaro. “It is programs such as this that help further leadership among young people by catalyzing their interest in civic participation and community service. I commend Cablevision for bringing this program to the students in our community. I believe each student will leave here today with a better understanding of the local government’s role as an instrument for constructive change within a community.”
“I believe programs such as this help motivate the next generation of leaders to live up to their fullest potential,” said Supervisor Tancredi. “It is vital that government is made relevant to young people and that the seeds of interest are planted early. This is precisely what ‘Meet the Leaders’ does. I thank Cablevision for this innovative initiative that engages students at an early age.”
