Students at Putnam Valley High School are Celebrated as Grand Prize Charity Champions Winners
As Charity Champions grand prize winner in Hudson Valley for the 2015-2016 school year, students from Putnam Valley High School’s Make a Difference Club attended a celebration to honor their achievements. Optimum Community presented a check for $5,000 to Steven and Susan Salamone, founders of Drug Crisis in Our Backyard, the school’s chosen charity, on the students’ behalf. The students held several fundraisers throughout the school year, raising more than $2,200.
Drug Crisis in Our Backyard is a community-based program offering education and action-oriented opportunities for families and addicts struggling with addiction. It seeks to raise awareness about this issue against which many families are battling; its goal is to foster a productive and inspiring dialogue around the issues of drug addiction.
