Supervisor Judi Bosworth's Environmental Event
Optimum Community joined Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town of North Hempstead for their Environmental Awareness Program at Weber Middle School in Port Washington. Supervisor Bosworth gave a presentation on the Town of North Hempstead’s Office of Sustainability environmental program, as well as other environmental initiatives including the importance of school recycling, composting, rain barrels, water conservation, climate change and more. Following the presentation, students were divided into two teams to participate in a fun quiz. Correct answers were noted on a scoreboard to determine the winning team.
“I believe programs such as this provide young people with a greater sense of responsibility with regard to taking care of our environment,” said Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Bosworth. “In this way, they gain a better realization of how they and their family can help sustain and protect our natural surroundings and water supply. I would like to thank all of the students here today for their enthusiasm and interest, as well as Optimum Community for partnering with the Town of North Hempstead on this program that addresses issues that affect us all.”
