Hispanic Heritage Month Essay Contest
Optimum Community Recognizes Three Essay Contest Winners from Great Neck
Optimum Community was joined by Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth to recognize three students from Great Neck for their prize-winning essays in the 7th annual Hispanic Heritage Month essay contest. Winners from Great Neck included Great Neck North High School 11th grader Julia Rietbroek (third place – Kindle Fire), Great Neck South Middle School 7th grader Shin Young Park (first place- iPad) and Great Neck South Middle School 8th grader Kristin Hon (grand prize - $2500). After each student read their essay, Supervisor Bosworth congratulated the students and presented each with an official Town certificate of recognition. The students were then presented with their prizes.
“I thoroughly enjoyed listening to all of the prize-winning essays read today,” said Supervisor Bosworth. “Throughout the years, Hispanic people have played an integral role in all sectors of our society, including education, business, the arts, sports, and more. The ‘Hispanic Heritage’ essay contest sponsored by Optimum Community and Olympusat, Inc. provides our young people with the opportunity to recognize the enormous contributions made by members of the Hispanic community nationwide.”
