Charity Champions
Students Throw a Carnival to Benefit the Center for Developmental Disabilities at St. Anthony's High School
Students at St. Anthony’s High School prove they are Charity Champions! As part of their participation in Optimum Community’s signature program, more than 300 students and staff volunteers set-up and ran a carnival on the school grounds with all proceeds benefiting the Center for Developmental Disabilities in Woodbury, NY. The student volunteers participated as “buddies” to more than 320 children with disabilities, running activities like dancing, face painting, bubbles, chalk, a variety of sports, a photo booth, a quiet coloring area and other appropriate activities for guests. At the start of the carnival, Optimum Community presented a $1,000 check on behalf of the students to be given to the charity. Special guest, Huntington Town Councilman Mark Cuthbertson, was on hand to help kick off the carnival.
The Center for Developmental Disabilities is committed to its mission of helping children and adults with differing abilities achieve their dreams by overcoming barriers to living, working, learning and enjoying recreational opportunities in the community of their choice.
