W.C. Mepham High School Students Receive Charity Champions Donation For Tuesday's Children
Optimum Community hosted a Charity Champions check presentation at W.C. Mepham High School, whose seniors chose Tuesday’s Children as their charity for this year’s program. The students have already hosted several fundraisers this semester including a Flag Field of Honor Day, Penny Wars and Battle of the Classes and over $7,000 has been raised for the charity. Optimum Community was delighted to reward the seniors with a $1,000 donation toward their charity at the assembly.
Formed in the aftermath of September 11th, Tuesday’s Children has provided services for the children of 9/11 victims, first responders, and military personnel. In addition, they have taken an international approach to bringing together the victims of terrorism from around the world through its Project Common Bond. Tuesday’s Children is one of only a handful of 9/11 charities that is fully operational today. It has evolved to continue to meet the needs of those impacted by the events of 9/11 and terrorism around the world.
“The students at Mepham High School have certainly picked a worthy cause and their enthusiasm for raising funds for Tuesday’s Children is infectious,” said Assemblyman McDonough. “As we know, Tuesday’s Children was formed in the aftermath of September 11th and continues to provide services for children of 9/11 victims, first responders and military personnel. Thanks to the efforts of these motivated young people here today this charitable organization will receive much-needed aid and support. I also commend Optimum Community for continuing to make this program available to the students in our area.”
