Meet the Leaders at School
Delbarton Students Participate in Meet the Leaders at School
Students at the Delbarton School took part in a Meet the Leaders @ School taping in honor of Veteran’s Day. The program focused on a range of topics relating to US veterans today, and included Assemblyman Anthony Bucco, Morris Plains VFW Post 3401 Commander James Auriemma, and Randolph VFW Post 733 Post Service Officer John Reilly. Following opening remarks by Cablevision emcee Shawna Ryan, who recognized Assemblyman Bucco and attending veterans and thanked them for their service, each guest addressed the audience. A student Q&A followed, with six 11th-grade students each presenting one question on topics that ranged from how students can best help veterans in the U.S. to what skills and abilities are most valuable to veterans. At the close of the event, Cablevision representatives presented VFW Post 3401 Commander Auriemma and VFW Post 7333 Post Service Officer Reilly each with a $2500 check for their respective veteran organization. In attendance was the entire student body, consisting of 560 students in grades 7 through 12.
“I think it’s important that young people today interact with our nation’s veterans on a firsthand basis to better understand their experiences, sacrifices and needs,” said Assemblyman Bucco. “The discussion today was meaningful and I congratulate each of the participating students. I also would like to thank all of our veterans for their service to our country and Cablevision for bringing the popular television show ‘Meet the Leaders @ School’ into the classroom.”
