Solomon Schecter Day School Students Recognized in C-Span’s StudentCam Competition
Cablevision and C-SPAN were joined by Assemblyman Tim Eustace at the Solomon Schechter Day School of Bergen County to recognize C-SPAN's StudentCam Competition honorable mention winners, eighth-grade students Daniel Dachille and Zachary Zimmer. StudentCam is C-SPAN’s annual national video documentary competition that encourages students to think critically about issues that affect our communities and nation. Students were asked to create a short (5-7 minute) video on a topic related to the competition theme, “A Message to Congress: What is the Most Important Issue the U.S. Congress Should Consider In 2014?” Approximately 200 students, teachers and parents gathered to view the students’ documentary, “Reforming the Broken Tax Code” and the winners were presented with their prizes. Assemblyman Tim Eustace spoke to the winning students about the importance of young people being knowledgeable about government affairs. Following the award presentation, students had the opportunity to tour the C-SPAN Bus.
“Congratulations to Daniel Dachille and Zachary Zimmer on their perceptive and creative video that focuses on an important issue for people of all ages,” said Assemblyman Eustace. “It is heartening to see young people taking an active role in matters that affect each of us. I also applaud C-SPAN and Cablevision for their ongoing commitment to education.”
