Hispanic Heritage Month Essay Grand Prize Winner Awarded Prize At All Saints Academy
Optimum Community and Olympusat celebrated eighth grader Jackson DiLullo as Grand Prize winner in their 8th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Essay Contest. Jackson’s essay, entitled “My Day With Lionel Andrés (Leo) Messi,” touched on the footballer’s legendary rise to fame from humble beginnings.
Students in the tristate area were invited to submit an essay of 500 words or less and to name a Latino, past or present, with whom they would choose to spend a day and explain why. Jackson’s essay was chosen from more than 400 essays in the middle school category, and he was awarded a $2,500 scholarship as well as a proclamation from special guest Bayonne Mayor James Davis at a school assembly with his classmates and friends.
