Meet the Leaders at School
Shabazz High School Hosts Meet the Leaders at School Taping
Students at Shabazz High School in Newark had the opportunity to participate in a Meet the Leaders at School taping with Congressman Donald Payne, Jr. Congressman Payne spoke on a variety of subjects, including his pending legislation to end racial profiling, and participated in a Q&A with students. The questions covered a range of topics, including how best to prepare for a career in public service, programs that Congressman Payne supports, and advice for young people today as they embark on their path in life.
“It’s wonderful to be here at Malcolm X. Shabazz High School. I’d like to thank all of the students participating for their thoughtful and perceptive questions,” said Congressman Payne, Jr. “You are our leaders of tomorrow and it is vitally important that you remain pro-active and interested in your local government. I commend Cablevision for bringing its informative TV show Meet the Leaders into the classroom so that students can interact directly with elected officials. The importance of familiarizing young people with the role that local government plays in communities cannot be stressed enough.”
