MTL at School at Bronx High School for Law, Government and Justice
As part of Cablevision’s year-long celebration of the Bronx Centennial, students in grades 9 through 12 at Bronx High School for Law, Government and Justice today took part in the popular Cablevision television show “Meet the Leaders at School,” which was taped at the school. Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. participated in the event and discussed a variety of topics of importance to young people in the Bronx. Twelve students had the opportunity to each pose one question to the Bronx Borough President, and covered a range of issues including housing for homeless youth in the Bronx, the employment outlook, the preservation of the Bronx River, making education more accessible for those in need, and more. Following the taping, the students participated in a Youth Summit which featured a more informal “Roundtable Discussion” with the Borough President.
“I congratulate each of the students participating in the filming of ‘Meet the Leaders at School’ for their perceptive questions and interest in issues affecting our community,” said Bronx Borough President Diaz. “It is heartening to see young people motivated and involved in government affairs and clearly interested in making a difference. I would also like to thank Cablevision for bringing this important program to the students here today.”
