Brooklyn Students Address Cyberbullying in Digital Smarts Event
Assemblywoman Latrice Walker visited PS/MS 178 in Brooklyn to participate in a Digital Smarts event sponsored by Optimum Community. Students from the school’s Anti-Bullying team delivered a presentation on Cyberbullying and Dean Ms. Elleney spoke to the students and invited a small group to participate in a skit on anti-bullying. Assemblywoman Walker applauded the students for their efforts and spoke about the importance of Internet safety. Concluding the event was a brief performance by the jazz band, and Principal Dr. Henry was presented with a $1,000 check to further support the school’s anti-bullying efforts.
“I am proud to be part of today’s event and congratulate each of the students on a job well done,” said Assemblywoman Walker. “As we know, cyberbullying can have disastrous and far-reaching repercussions. I believe every student here today now has a clearer understanding of what constitutes appropriate communication in the digital age and the importance of treating one another with respect. I commend Optimum Community for this program that delivers a powerful and important message in an innovative way.”
