Meet the Leaders at School / Women's History Month
Clara Barton High School Students Participate in Meet the Leaders at School
Optimum Community held a taping of Meet the Leaders at School at Clara Barton High School in Brooklyn, featuring NYS Senator Jesse Hamilton and Reverend Dr. Cheryl Anthony from the Judah International Christian Center. In recognition of Women’s History Month, the program included a discussion of issues surrounding women's equality. Students had the opportunity to participate in a Q&A with Senator Hamilton and Reverend Anthony, discussing questions that ranged from race relations in the community to the current state of education.
“First, I would like to thank all the students participating today. The questions you posed demonstrate both your concern for our community and your engagement with civic life,” said Senator Hamilton. “I encourage you to continue to engage because our community needs your voices. I also commend Cablevision for motivating young people to be more involved in community affairs by including them in the production of informative programs like Meet the Leaders.”
Judah International Christian Center Reverend Anthony noted, “Young people should be pro-active when it comes to community affairs and it’s important to realize that each of you can make a difference. Stay motivated and concerned, as you are our future leaders. I also commend Cablevision for bringing this popular program to our students in Brooklyn.”
