SAR High School Named NYC Charity Champions Winners
Optimum Community held a grand prize check presentation ceremony for the New York City Charity Champions winner, SAR High School, during the school’s final awards assembly. Student members of the Cookies for a Cause Club (CFAC) have worked throughout this past school year to raise money for the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, one of the most technologically advanced hospitals for children in the world. The club held 25 bake sales and raised over $8,000 for the local organization, involving the entire school in their fundraising challenge. New York City Councilman Andy Cohen attended the ceremony and congratulated the students on their success and commitment to fundraising. Principal Rabbi Harcsztark also spoke about the outstanding volunteer efforts of the CFAC club and showed a slide show that highlighted the students’ accomplishments from the past year. The school was then presented with a $5,000 check to be donated to the Children’s Hospital.
“You should all be very proud of yourselves for being the Charity Champions grand-prize winners in New York City this year. We appreciate your efforts throughout the year and applaud you on a job well done,” said Councilman Cohen. “I also commend Optimum Community for bringing its Charity Champions initiative to the students in our area and helping them realize the importance of community service.”
