SAR Students Raising Money for Bronx Children's Hospital
Optimum Community was joined by New York State Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz in a visit to the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore to recognize students from SAR High School for their participation in this year’s Charity Champions Program. The students have decided to raise money for the Children’s Hospital because they feel that children with terminal illness are often subject to stresses generally not felt by other children their age. Optimum Community presented the students with a $500 donation to further their fundraising efforts, and a donation of $1,000 was presented to the hospital. Assemblyman Dinowitz congratulated the students for their commitment to others, and CHAM Director of the Child Life Program Meghan D. Kelly thanked the students for their ongoing efforts. Directly after the check presentation, the students hosted a Valentine party for pediatric inpatients and their families.
“I would like to congratulate each of the students involved in this program,” said Assemblyman Dinowitz. “It is gratifying to see high school students reaching out to help these young patients at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore who are courageously battling various diseases. I also commend Optimum Community for bringing its Charity Champions initiative to the students in our area and helping them understand the importance of community service.”
