NY Knicks Youth Basketball Clinic
Optimum Community Student Reporters at NY Knicks Youth Basketball Clinic
Optimum Community and the New York Knicks Youth Basketball Clinic bring student reporters and past and present Knicks players to communities around our area. A 5th grader at P.S. 115 interviewed special guests, Knicks legend Larry Johnson and NY State Senator Adriano Espaillat, prior to the day’s activities.
At the clinics, the kids engage in healthy lifestyle group discussions led by Knicks staff before flexing their muscles with basketball themed activities and games. The emphasis at these clinic events is on hard work, good sportsmanship, self-esteem, and proper nutrition.
There is also a focus on empowering children to be the best they can be while dealing with adversity, as well as the importance of education and staying in school as it pertains to their own personal growth and development.
