Charity Champions

Students at Cardinal Hayes High School are Celebrated as Grand Prize Charity Champions Winners

As Charity Champions grand prize winner in NYC for the 2015-2016 school year, students at Cardinal Hayes High School attended a celebration to honor their achievements. Optimum Community was on hand to present a check for $5,000 to Father Franco from the Sacred Heart Food Pantry, the school’s chosen charity, on the students’ behalf. The students held several fundraisers throughout the school year, gathering hundreds of cans of food as well as raising $4,000 for the food pantry.

A staple in the community for many years, the Sacred Heart food pantry is located in the poorest congressional district in the nation. Those in need are welcome to come each Friday and “shop” for donated groceries and supplies to help make ends meet. The food pantry serves approximately 170 families per week.
