Friends come in all ages
At the
Idle Hour Elementary School in Oakdale, third grade students are on a mission to bring friendship and happiness to others. Since first grade, these same children have had an ongoing relationship with the senior citizens at The Arbors of Bohemia. Recently, the students paid them a visit, and together they shared stories and created a penguin craft for their elders to keep as a memento. On their monthly visits, the students are paired with the seniors, giving them the chance to really get to know each other and develop a beautiful relationship.
Gianna B. said, βItβs fun for us to visit with our grandfriends because we really think of them like we think of our grandparents.β Michael J. added," Every time I see the grandfriends it puts a smile on my face because I love seeing them smile." Lastly, Kyle C. exclaimed," It's excellent because they have some company for the day."
