Everyone Matters, Everyone Cares, Everyone Learns
E3 Day at
North Shore Middle School in Glen Head is a day centered solely on giving. It’s the day students practice the school’s philosophy of everyone matters, everyone cares, everyone learns. During the course of the day, students, faculty, and staff performed numerous activities that changed the lives of those in need. They participated in a dance-a-thon and a basketball shootout raising thousands of dollars for various charities, baked and packaged over 450 cookie bags for the Glen Cove Senior Center, and went to St. Boniface to provide outreach to the church. The school community’s efforts did not stop there. They raked leaves for senior citizens, taught elementary school children, and sent 3,783 items of food to a local food pantry.
When asked what E3 day meant to them student Madelyn shared, “The most important lesson that I learned today is to think of others, not just myself, and to strive to make a difference, not just for me but for others.” Summing up the day, Principal Dr. Marc Ferris noted, “All in all…it was a productive day. But most importantly, our students felt great joy on the inside, learning what it means to give to others, to care for others, and to make a difference in the world around them.”
