Waverly Park Elementary School, East Rockaway

Honoring our Veterans

At Waverly Park Elementary School in East Rockaway, the students are learning the roles that veterans have played in our country. On “Bring a Veteran to School Day” veterans visited the school and enjoyed breakfast with the staff and student council members. They attended a special assembly and listened to songs and poems and even received flowers. The invited guests visited classrooms where they shared their experiences, talked about their service and answered student’s questions. It was a memorable day for all the students and a chance for local veterans to feel appreciated and honored.
