Spring Cleaning
The
St. Rose of Lima School Student Council in Massapequa makes an enormous effort throughout the school year to raise funds for various service projects. Recently, the students sponsored a school-wide raffle to raise money to carry out their “Spring Cleaning” project. The members gave up their recess time and volunteered to assemble buckets of cleaning products, which included: dish soap, laundry detergent, paper towels and sponges. The cleaning packages were brought to the Family and Children’s Association in Nassau County.
The children created cards which were also included in each bucket, wishing warm spring wishes to those receiving the donations. When asked to share their thoughts about the project, Radhika shared, “Knowing that these baskets will help so many families across Long Island makes me proud of our Student Council and what we do.” “The spring-cleaning project helped me realize how many people are in need, and compels me to help others in the future,” added fellow student Claudia.
