As more and more states are using electronic voting systems in the US, the discovery of data breaches involving voter registration information worldwide is raising the question of whether cybercriminals could manipulate election results. Since the end of 2015, the registration data of millions of voters in the US, Turkey, Mexico and the Philippines has been discovered online. The information included names, addresses, birth dates, party affiliations, phone numbers and emails. Critics say this kind of data exposure could lead to election fraud.
